SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt (Health & Fitness Journal) – Deep divisions between countries at the UN climate talks have left delegates at the COP27 in Egypt far from reaching a final agreement.
With government ministers now in Sharm el-Sheikh, delegations will work long hours on Thursday to reach agreement on issues ranging from climate finance to formulations surrounding the fossil fuel transition.
Separately, ministers from countries that have signed the Global Methane Pledge to cut methane emissions by 30% by 2030 will discuss progress towards the goal. US officials say a few dozen of them will come up with detailed plans to achieve their goals.
Elsewhere, UAE officials will hold a briefing on next year’s UN climate summit in Dubai.
And as many as 84 countries and companies are likely to commit to a pledge introduced last year to ditch gas-powered vehicles in favor of electric vehicles. The pledge was first announced with 130 countries at COP26.
