TOKYO (Health & Fitness Journal) – Japan’s wholesale prices rose 9.1% yoy in October, slowing from a revised 10.2% rise in the previous month, but remained at elevated levels, data showed on Friday, a sign that the weak yen is further pushing up the cost of commodity imports for companies.
The rise in the Corporate Goods Price Index (CGPI), which measures the prices companies charge each other for their goods and services, beat the 8.8% average market forecast.
Soaring fuel and commodity prices have weighed on Japan’s fragile economic recovery as more businesses pass on the higher costs to households as still weak consumption suffers.
