DepEd Negros Releases Statement on Contaminated Chicken Joy Issue
DepEd Negros has finally released a statement about the contaminated chicken delight issue.
Previously, video footage of a young student buying a fried chicken with live maggots outside of school. The footage sparked reactions from netizens after it was posted online.
A male teacher checked the fried chicken and expressed disappointment and frustration after seeing live maggots in the food. The boy is said to have bought the chicken outside of school.
The food looks like regular fried chicken at first glance, but the resident was shocked when live maggots came out when he opened the Chicken Joy’s batter.
The educator criticized the fried chicken seller for selling disgusting products to students. He claimed that the contaminated food could pose a risk to students’ health.
The latter said that outside the school, sellers must ensure the cleanliness of their products. He released the video to raise public awareness about eating outside of school.
On Thursday (November 17, 2022) spokesman for the Department of Education (DepEd) – Division of Negros Occidental Ian Arnold Arnaez released a statement regarding the incident.
Arnaez reminded parents, guardians and students to avoid buying food and drink outside of school. He explained that cholera cases and waterborne diseases are beginning to increase in the province.
The DepEd official advised students and parents to buy groceries from the school canteen. He said the department office regularly checks the cleanliness of the place and the food.
