SHENZHEN, China (Health & Fitness Journal) – The C919 narrow-body jet will take part in the opening flight display at China’s largest air show in the southern city of Zhuhai on Tuesday, according to a schedule released by organizers, in what will mark its first public flight or display.
Manufactured by the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC), the C919 was designed to compete with Airbus SE (OTC:) and Boeing (NYSE:) Co single-aisle jets and has never been publicly displayed or flown .
China will showcase its domestic civil and military aviation technology at the air show, which will be attended by 740 companies both online and offline.
The presence of the C919 was confirmed in the schedule of the organizer’s official WeChat social media account. There will be a 15 minute air show on each of the six days of the air show.
In late September, COMAC held a certification ceremony for the C919, which is now ready for delivery to its first customer, China Eastern Airlines (NYSE:) Corp, although it now requires a separate production certificate before ramping up mass production.
Also planned are China’s domestically developed AG600, the world’s largest amphibious aircraft, and the Y20 military transport aircraft.
