BENGALURU (Health & Fitness Journal) – WhatsApp is rolling out a feature called Communities globally to organize different chat groups into larger structures, as well as other features like larger group video calls and in-chat polls, the Meta Platforms messaging service said on Thursday With .
The community feature will bring different chat groups together under larger umbrellas where admins could send notifications to a community of thousands – a feature that could be used by workplaces or schools.
The app also now allows chat groups of up to 1,024 users, much larger than the 256-participant limit it had until recently, according to a company statement.
WhatsApp competitors including Telegram and Discord allow thousands of members in group chats.
Other feature releases include 32-person video calls and in-chat polls, a common feature on social media apps including Meta’s Facebook (NASDAQ:) and Twitter.
