WASHINGTON (Health & Fitness Journal) – President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that threats by some Republican candidates to refuse to accept the results of the Nov. 8 election if they lose posed a threat to democracy, and he blamed the former president Donald Trump for inspiring her.

“Make no mistake, democracy is on the ballot for all of us,” Biden said in a speech just days before Americans decide whether Democrats retain control of the US Senate and House or hand power to Republicans hand over.

Biden, speaking at Washington’s Union Station not far from Capitol Hill, used the hammer attack on Paul Pelosi, husband of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, at their San Francisco home as evidence that democracy was born less than two years after Jan. 6 is in danger , 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

“The attacker entered the house and asked, ‘Where’s Nancy? Where’s Nancy?’ Those were the exact same words the mob used when they stormed the US Capitol on Jan. 6,” Biden said.

He urged voters to “think long and hard about the moment we are in.”

“As I stand here today, there are candidates running for every office in America — for governor, for Congress, for attorney general, for secretary of state — who have not committed themselves to accepting the results of their elections. clean,” he said.

Biden said stand-outs were inspired by Trump considering running for president in 2024, while Biden works to decide whether to seek another four-year term.

Biden said “American democracy is under attack” because Trump will not accept the results of the 2020 election, which he lost to Biden.

“He refuses to accept the will of the people, he refuses to accept that he lost,” Biden said.

Biden, who is engaged in a campaign frenzy for the Democrats in the final days leading up to next Tuesday’s midterm elections, faces the possibility of Republicans gaining control of Congress that would hurt his agenda.

Most medium-term forecasts assume that Republicans will almost certainly take control of the House of Representatives, while the Senate is a draw.

Biden said “the destiny of the nation” rests with the people, and he ended his 20-minute speech on an upbeat note.

“My fellow Americans, we will meet at this very moment. We just have to remember who we are. We are the United States of America. There is nothing beyond our capacity if we do it together,” he said.

Voter fraud is extremely rare in America, but a significant number of Americans are concerned. A Health & Fitness Journal/Ipsos poll completed Monday found that 49% of Americans believe voter fraud is a widespread problem, with 34% of Democrats and 69% of Republicans holding the view.

About 44% said they were concerned that the US election would be rigged, including 28% of Democrats and 62% of Republicans.

Despite these beliefs, 67% of respondents said they were confident their own ballots would be counted accurately, including a large majority of Democrats and Republicans.
